Asha Bhosle (born September 8, 1933) is best known as a Bollywood playback although she has a much wider repertoire. Her career started in 1943 and has spanned over six decades. She has done playback singing for over 950 Bollywood movies. She is the sister of the equally accomplished Lata Mangeshkar. Asha Bhosle is considered one of the most versatile South Asian singers and has sung in over 14 languages.

A Day In the Life of a Software Engineer Blogger

Most of the authors of blogging tips are sharing their day to day activities and here is the schedule I follow on a day to day basis as a Software Engineer. I have been in love with computers since early 1994 though much of my Internet life began much later in the late 90s.
I trained to become a Software Professional in 1999 and have over 7 years of experience building and deploying applications for the Internet platform. I work with Java, J2EE, PHP, XML, XSL and lots more (My Resume is actually made up of 7 pages LOL). Just in short I am a Internet Data Mining Expert
10:00 AM to 11:15 AM
I am not much of a early riser and prefer to sleep a bit late in the morning. I am more of a late to bed and late to rise kind of person. I usually get up around 10 and go on with the usual rituals by around 10.30 I leave the house for office and reach there by 11:15 AM.
While traveling to office I read fiction novels to keep my reading habit satisfied (I finish at least one novel every 2-3 weeks).
11:15 AM to 12 PM
This is the time I usually use to read emails and news papers online. Other than that I skim through my feed reader and stop to read all the interesting content taking notes for my future articles on the way.
I actually carry my notebook wherever I go since I like to take notes about interesting things which I can write about later.
12:00 PM to 12:15 PM
This is the period I go through all the things that I have to do and create a TODO list prioritizing each of the things as high, medium and low priority. I usually add this list to the backlog from yesterday and know first hand on what things I have to work for the rest of the day.
12:15 PM to 7:00 PM
Well this is the period in which I do the most of the work going through 1000s and 1000s of lines of code or writing 1000s of my own, fixing bugs, going through code submitted to me by my team, replying to emails from colleagues, helping others with their code and more.
To be frank it’s the time where I rarely look at anything else other than the computer. But my first love is computers and I really don’t mind it as I love the challenges that my profession provides me with.
7:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Travel back to home while once again satisfying the reading habit. Well to be quite frank I get quite edgy sitting idle and need to always do something or the other and reading is the perfect ploy for my idleness.
8:00 PM to 9:30PM
This is the time I do most of my freelance blog posts and personal blog posts. If I have any ideas I try to create posts for the next day during this time. I write for more than one blogs so I tend to fit most of the posts in this time.
You may say that I am giving much lesser time to blogging but I more than make up for it during weekends and holidays where most of my time is spent in creating quality posts for my readers.
10:00 PM to 12:30 PM
During this period I work on my freelance software projects I take up for clients. I usually have a huge load of work to keep me busy for a month in advance but when I have spare time on hand I work on some of my WordPress plugin ideas. I usually spend around 10 hours in a week during busy periods working on WordPress plugins.
I have quite a few of them which are incomplete and yet to be released, that said the bulk of the time is taken up by freelance software projects which I take up. Well so as you see my work does not end where it ends it just gets into a different mode.
12:30 AM to 2:30 AM
This is the time I spend chatting with family and other loved ones, since I live in US and they in India this is the best time we get to talk since it’s day time there.
I also spend some time in between to read the news papers online again (I read about 8 newspapers online) and catch up on the feed reader once again before going to bed.
Summarizing
Due to lack of personal blog posting time during the weekdays I tend to write lots of blog posts during the weekends and holidays. I usually try to post on all the ideas from my notes then as I have more time on hand and can work much more peacefully on the blog posts.
What I like about Software Engineering?
Well the best part of the job is the money I make out of it but rather than that I like the challenges about solving problems for people through software. My job provides me with ample amount of challenges that keep me satisfied with my work.
The day these challenges subside I will start looking at another avenue so for me it’s the satisfaction in what I do is what matters most.
Should You take up Software Programming?
Software Programming is not hard to learn but hard to do, you need to have your concepts right once that’s there you will definitely enjoy doing software. There are many different programming platforms which you can choose from, most of them differ only in syntax whereas the concepts remain the same.
Other than that it’s not a stressful job if you learn to prioritize your work and divide them into smaller tasks. I have been doing this for last 3-4 years and have never felt much stress on the job. Yes you will come across quite a few pressure cooker situations where you will have to work on tight schedules which will drain you out, but that is a part of any profession you will choose.
I would definitely advise you to take up Software Programming.

India's Top Business Women

Entrepreneur Dr. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairman & Managing Director of Bioon Ltd., who became India's richest woman in 2004 (an estimated Rs.2,100 crore )~US$480 million), was educated at the Bishop Cotton Girls School and Mount Carmel College in Bangalore. She founded Biocon India with a capital of Rs.10,000 in her garage in 1978 - the initial operation was to extract an enzyme from papaya. Her application for loans were turned down by banks then - on three counts - biotechnology was then a new word, thecompany lacked assets, and (most importantly) women entrepreneurs were still a rarity. Today, her company is the bigget biopharmaceutical firm in the country. In 2006, Shaw caused a few Page 3 ruffles after a much hyped photograph showed her in an embraceand lip-lock with senior BJP leader Vasundhara Raje Scinidia.


Ekta Kapoor, creative head of Balajji Telefilms, is the daughter of actor Jeetendra, and sister of actor Tushar Kapoor. She has been synonymous with the rage of soap operas on Indian TV, after her most famous venture 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi', which started airing on STAR Plus in 2000. Ekta dominates Indian television, producing more than eight television soaps. At the 6th Indian Telly Awards 2006, she bagged the Hall of Fame award for her contributions. Most of her creations begin with the letter'K' due to her superstition that it brings her good luck.


Sunita Narain, an environmentalist and political activist as well as a major proponent of the Green concept of sustainable development, was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2005. Narain, who has been with the India-based Centre for Science and Environment since 1982, is currently the director of the Centre, and the director of the Society for Environmental Communications, and publisher of the fortnightly magazine, 'Down to Earth'.


Neelam Dhawan, Microsoft India managing director, leads Microsoft's sales and marketing operations in the country. A Stephenian (graduated in 1980), she passed out of Delhi's Faculty of Management Studies in 1982. Back then, while she was keen to join FMCG majors like Hindustan Lever and Asian Paints, both companies rejected Dhawan as they did not want to appoint women for marketing.



Naina Lal Kidwai was the first Indian woman to graduate from the Harvard Business School. Fortune magazine listed Kidwai among the World's Top 50 Corporate Women from 2000 to 2003. According to the Economic Times, she is the first woman to head the operations of a foreign bank in India (HSBC). Kidwai was awarded the Padma Shri this year.




Sulajja Firodia Motwani, Joint Managing Director of Kinetic Engineering Ltd., is in-charge of the company's overall business developmental activities. She is also the Director of Kinetic Motor Company Limited and Kinetic Marketing Services Limited. A fitness freak and avid sports enthusiast, she even played badminton at the national level. The magazine 'India Today' has honoured her with the title of business 'Face of the Millennium'. She was ranked among the top 25 business entrepreneurs of the country,and was also presented with the Society Young Achiever's Award for Business in 2002. Mallika Srinivasan, Director of TAFE India (her husband is automobile tycoon Venu Srinivasan, CMD of TVS Motors) was named Businesswoman of the year in 2006. When she joined the company in 1986, its turnover was Rs.85 crore, and at the time of her award,TAFE and its allied companies were earning revenues of Rs.2,900 crore. A couple of years after her marriage in 1982, and less than a year after her daughter was born, Srinivasan went to Wharton to pursue her MBA. It's no surprise that TAFE also runs hospitals and schools. A serious votary of woman power, Srinivasan says women's contribution to society has often been underestimated.



Dr. Jatinder Kaur Arora, an outstanding scientist from Punjab, was conferred a national award for her work on women's development through science and technology. Dr. Arora, perhaps the first scientist to get such an award, is a doctorate in microbiology and has a brilliant academic record. An unlikely and fairly new contender on this list, she is serving as a joint director in the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology at present.



Indra Krishnamurthy Nooyi, chairman and executive officer of PepsiCo, was according to Forbes magazine's 2006 poll, the fourth most powerful woman in the world. She was also named the #1 Most Powerful Woman in Business in 2006 by Fortune magazine. She got her bachelor's degree from Madras Christian College in 1974, entered the Business Diploma programme at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and later moved to the US to attend the Yale School of Management. Early life
Born in Hong Kong to a Kashmiri Muslim father, Mohammed Kaif, and a British Christian mother, Suzzane Turquotte. Her mother, a Harvard graduate, was a lawyer but later became involved in charity work. Her parents separated when Kaif was very young. Kaif has seven siblings. She was raised in Hawaii and later moved to her mother’s home country, England.

Career
At age fourteen she was approached by an agent and began modeling; her first job was for a jewelry campaign. She continued modeling in London, under a contract with the Models 1 Agency and did campaigns for houses like La Senza and Arcadius and even walked on the London Fashion Week.
Kaif’s London modeling work led to her discovery by London-based filmmaker Kaizad Gustad, who gave her a part in his film Boom (2003). She moved to Mumbai and was offered a number of modeling assignments. However, filmmakers were initially hesitant to sign her because she could not speak Hindi.
Kaif saw success with the 2005 film Sarkar where she played the bit part of Abhishek Bachchan’s girlfriend. Her next release, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005), where she was paired opposite Salman Khan, earned her the Stardust Breakthrough Performance Award.

Sania Mirza was born in Mumbai, India on the 15th November, 1986 to   Mr. Imran Mirza and Naseema. Saniya Mirza’s father Imran was a sports journalist previously after that he went into the printing business and finally he became a builder and her mother Naseema was associated with the printing industry. The family later relocated themselves in the city of Hyderabad. Saniya Mirza got her schooling from Nasr School Khairatabad and passed her SSC examination with first division securing 63% marks.

Saniya Mirza has got a younger sister by the name of Anam. Saniya was drawn to the lawn tennis by her father; she started playing tennis at the tender age of six at Nizam Club Hyderabad. When Saniya was first taken to the coach he refused to coach her, later on after a week he called up the parents of Saniya and told them that he has never seen such a talent at such a tender age. Her initial training was handled by CK Bhupati father of Mahesh Bhupati, the legendary Indian tennis player.


Sania Mirza’s father was unable to take care of the expenses of the training of Saniya therefore he approached some business houses for help, GVK industries and Adidas started to sponsor her from the age of 12 years. Later on her father Imran took over as her coach. Her physiotherapist is Badrinath.


Sania Mirza learnt the professional tennis at Sinnet Tennis Academy in Secunderabad after that she moved to the Ace Tennis Academy in the United States. Currently her professional career is being managed by Global Sports, a company associated with Mahesh Bhupati and she has appointed Bob Brett who was previously the coach of Boris Becker as a specialist advisor.


Saniya Mirza started playing in international tournaments from the year 1999 when she first represented India in the World Junior Championship, Jakarta; after that Saniya went on to participate in the Asian Games in the year with Paes where she won a bronze medal. She again did India proud when she figured in the main draw for the girls doubles junior Wimbledon Tennis tournament with a 13 year old Russian player Alisa Kleybanova and won the Grand Slam title. Doing so Saniya became the first youngest Indian player to do so.


Sania Mirza has won 21 ITF titles till date. In the year 2005 Saniya Mirza created waves in the tennis world when she reached to the 3rd and 4th rounds of many Grand Slam tournaments.  She has a very powerful forehand (Double handed backhand) and serves an array of strokes. She is greatly influenced by the German player Stefi Graff.

In 2003, Sania made debut of career with India Fed Cup team, where she won all three singles matches. The same year she also won the Wimbledon Championships Girls' Doubles title partnering with Russian player Alisa Kleybanova. At the Asian Tennis Championship in 2004, she turned out as a runner up. Year 2005 build recognition to the tennis player when she became the first Indian woman to reach the 4th round of a Grand Slam event US Open over passing Mashona Washington, Maria Elena Camerin and Marion Bartoli in the earlier rounds. Also made a 3rd round appearance to another Grand Slam event Australian Open, where she loses to the former champion Serena Williams.
Sania won the first WTA title of her career- Hyderabad Open Finals on February 12, 2005 beating Alyona Bondarenko of Ukraine in the finals. Till 2006 September, Sania made three top 10 players Martina Hingis, Svetlana Kuznetsova, and Nadia Petrova to lose to her. Later when representing India at the Asian Games, Doha, 2006, Sania clinched a gold medal in mixed doubles teaming with Leander Paes, silver in both women's singles and Indian women's team.
Meanwhile she was also awarded by the Indian government with Arjuna Award in 2004 and Padma Shri in 2006. Arjuna Award is given to sport person for his/her outstanding performance in the sport, while Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian honor of India given to people for their distinguished contribution to various fields like arts, literature, sports etc.
Being hard courts as her favorite surface, Sania displayed good results in 2007 hard-court season. She stands out 8th in US Open 2007 Series. Made final round appearance in singles at Bank of the West Classic, while won in the doubles event along with Shahar Peer. Also made a quarterfinal appearance to Tier 1 Acura Classic tournament. One more time reached 3rd round of US Open 2007. However shown better results in doubles, reaching quarterfinals of mixed and women's doubles.
In 2008, Sania participated in Beijing Olympics to represent India. In singles event she retired from a round of 64, however crashed out from doubles event from round of 16. On 2008-12-11, the ace Indian tennis player was honored with Doctor of Letters from MGR Educational and Research Institute University, Chennai. It's the same institute where Sania's niece Sonia Baig studies.
In 2009, Mirza won first Grand Slam tile along with compatriot Mahesh Bhupathi at Australian Open mixed doubles event. With this she became the first and only Indian woman to win a grand slam title. The highest career ranking of Sania Mirza till date is- 27 in singles and 18 in doubles.
